i wanted to wait until i could post the pictures but i am so happy that i wanted to share how amazing it was to be with carys today.
she had a fieldtrip at nearby hong kong park. we were identifying buildings from photos and the kids drew their favourite buildings.
carys has just blossomed these past couple of years. her independence and joy really struck me today. she has two blonde friends, danielle and laura. she seeks them out, they call out for her. next year all three girls will be at kennedy school.
we finished the work portion of the field trip in plenty of time, which meant we had the time to take the kids to the aviary and then the park, where carys slid, played in the sand, and joined two groups of friends. with one group of friends she played big sister in "families", and with danielle she played "airplane". they were pilots and air hostesses taking me to canada, bringing me apple juice, ribena, spaghetti and chips. they were just gorgeous. i took a lot of pictures.
afterwards, there was a bit of time left before jasper and sela got out of class, so carys and i played in the k3 classroom. she wanted to do puzzles. as she slotted in each correct piece, she squealed triumphantly and loudly, and gave me a high five. after completing the puzzle, she would put it back in place (a skill that hasn't transferred to home). [left and below: sela & jj from their friday field trip.]
she's just loving life so much. and just love watching her and being part of it.
Interesting how they all develop differently. Sounds like the different is still good.
And I get to meet your Dad in a few days!
