today was sebastian's sports day.
each student represents one of the school's four teams: unicorn, pheonix, lion or dragon. sebastian is a lion, and has a dark blue uniform. this is not by coincidence. the dark blue uniform is the easiest to clean and therefore, i requested that my son be a lion. the fact that my last name is lyons is merely coincidental.
sports day. always fun.
there were seven events that the children spent five minues competing in. they were given two minutes to walk to their next event. sebastian did very well in the relay race, in the "chase race" and loved playing giant parachute.
points were given in the individual games. last year the dragons won in the year 1-2 sports game.
this year, the LIONS won! whether it was due to meg's creative scorekeeping or the year one and two blue lion effort, they were wonderful and WON! let's hope years three through six can continue!
and then it came time for the parent race. i did not compete in the parent race. truly, my hip wouldn't have snapped in half had i ran, but i was not wearing an appropriate upper garment.
lots of my friends ran, and you would have loved to have seen my friend mandy run! she was amazing! i love backing a winner!
and then there was the dads race. the kids were going crazy, cheering for their parents, "go 2N dads!" they were yelling, and charles obediently went and joined the race, even though he was wearing clogs instead of trainers.
and he did SO WELL! he came in second in his heat and was picking up speed towards the end. you could tell if it were a 200m race he would have won. i had mums turning to me and saying "your husband is such a good runner!" and i couldn't hear them because i was so busy yelling for him. (not that i had much of a voice left after yelling for sebastian all morning!!) but i did mention later that if they thought charles was good at springing, they should see him in long distances, where he really excels.
my men were FANTASTIC today!
i celebrated their excellence by going out to lunch with some of the other mums in the class (the ones who ran) and in a few minutes i am heading off to a board meeting. WELL DONE BOYS!!!
Congratulations to the Caldwell men!
Love, M xox
